Katosha is an attorney and lobbyist with Lewis and Roca, LLP. Her practice focuses on government relations (local, state and federal), Indian law, water and environmental law, administrative law, and gaming law. She represents corporate, small business, non-profit and tribal interests. Katosha regularly counsels clients; leads and participates in negotiations; and researches, analyzes and drafts statutes, amendments rules and/or regulations. She frequently participates in stakeholder meetings and builds coalitions. Katosha regularly meets with gubernatorial, legislative and agency staff. She is well versed in administrative and legislative procedure and has testified on clients' interests before the legislature, represented clients in rulemakings, investigations, and

informal and formal interviews before various state agencies/boards.
Prior to joining Lewis and Roca, Ms. Nakai held a prestigious federal clerkship with Chief Judge Mary M. Schroeder at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Additionally, she has experience with the Arizona Supreme Court Staff Attorneys' Office, Judge James Tielborg of the United States District Court, District of Arizona, and as a law clerk to the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Legal Department. Before entering the legal profession, Ms. Nakai worked in television news as a reporter, anchor and producer in both Oklahoma City and Minneapolis/St. Paul. She also served as media coordinator of the National Marrow Donor Program and communications director for the American Indian College Fund and of the Minnesota Department of Children, Families & Learning.
Katosha and her husband Errol Nakai (Navajo) live in Phoenix with their two daughters, Ellisia and Gabriella. |
