David Smoot

David P. Smoot, most recently the Founder of NATAWA Corporation, built the company and founded it's charter in 2002, just after the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he participated as the largest sponsor of the Navajo Nation's "Discover Navajo" exhibit. The company has already achieved notable status in the real estate utility development business. Today, NATAWA Corporation has signed contracts of over $3 Billion since its inception. Prior to founding NATAWA, David Smoot was CEO of American Indian Financial Services, a company that facilitated the economic development of Native American tribes though strategic partnerships, financing and unique product offerings. Mr. Smoot was responsible for the funding  of over  $25 million,  integrating over  23
software and hardware companies and finally the deployment to the Gulf of the Tomahawk and Cruise Missile Direction Program for Desert Storm. Before that, he founded and took public, Tomahawk II, a company specialized in digitizing "D and E" size engineering drawings of our nation's weapons systems for the Department of Defense, as well as companies such as US West. Mr. Smoot also founded the nation's first "software only" leasing company, which quickly became the fastest growing leasing business in America, The company, Software Funding International, ("SFI"), which was founded in 1983, later became Meridian Software Leasing through an acquisition in 1989. SFI represented the nation's pioneer in software leasing, and therefore had relationships with almost all major software companies in the United States.

Mr. Smoot has also worked as Director of Operations at Digital Research, a pioneer company in microcomputer operating systems. Digital Research was later acquired by Novell. Throughout the years, Mr. Smoot has maintained excellent relationships and stays in communication with business executives across the nation.

Mr. Smoot is also a pioneer in Charitable work, founding the Pro Players Classic Golf Tournament, held annually in Scottsdale, AZ since 1997 and benefiting Native American Youth. Mr. Smoot is on several very prestigious Charitable Boards as a Partner or Board Member. These organizations include; Social Venture Partners, Sports Legends for Prostate Cancer and the Desert Ridge YMCA. Mr. Smoot, a former professional basketball player, also ran the basketball program at the sports camps on Indian Reservations for Native Vision, a collaborative effort of the NFL Players Association and Johns Hopkins Medical, which grew from 80 kids at its inception to over 500 kids per camp today.
